As you're probably starting to realise now; I am passionate about health and wellness and I firmly believe that eating real food and consuming essential nutrients is fundamental to achieving optimal well-being. I used to count calories and weigh myself weekly but I've found a far better method for staying fit and healthy that doesn't require any calorie counting (or going anywhere near the scales!) JERF.

Food
Look at the back of a packet and see how many ingredients it contains. If it has a list of things you don't recognise, it's probably processed.
Eating real food is vital for our energy and health. Processed foods are usually packed with sugar and unhealthy fats, which can cause weight gain, inflammation, and chronic diseases. In contrast, real food is brimming with essential nutrients that our bodies require to thrive. Real food is more satisfying, which means we are less likely to overeat and consume empty calories.
If you value your long-term health, you must prioritise eating real food and consuming essential nutrients over counting calories or following fad diets. Maintaining a balanced diet that comprises a variety of whole foods is the best way to support our overall health and energy. By avoiding processed foods and focusing on eating real food, we can improve our health and reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
Counting calories can be tedious and time-consuming, and it doesn't necessarily give you a complete picture of the nutritional value of your food. Instead, focus on the nutrients that your body needs to function at its best. This includes things like protein, fibre, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals. Food can be medicine, either helping or hindering your health. By choosing nutrient-dense foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins, you can give your body the fuel it needs to thrive.
On the other hand, a diet filled with processed foods, sugary drinks, and unhealthy fats can lead to a host of health problems, including obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. The good news is that eating a healthy, nutrient-rich diet doesn't have to be difficult. Start by making small changes to your diet, like swapping out sugary snacks for fresh fruit, or incorporating more vegetables into your meals. Focus on the foods that make you feel good, and don't be afraid to experiment with new recipes and ingredients.
Remember, your body is a machine that needs the right fuel to function properly. By paying attention to the nutrients in your food, you can give your body what it needs to thrive. So the next time you sit down for a meal, think about the nutrients you're putting into your body and choose foods that will help you feel your best.
ZEST ENERGY TIP
I love making (and eating) Buddha bowls. Traditionally, Buddha bowls are vegetarian or vegan, balanced meals that are eaten cold. However, I like to mix it up with some warm rice or veggies, and add whatever I have in the fridge or cupboard. Check out this beautiful website with some delicious Buddha Bowl ideas HERE. You can batch the bowls and leave them in the fridge for a day or so. Let me know which one you like best!
